The 2026 League of Legends World Championship runs from October 15 to November 14 in the United States, with 19 teams playing in Los Angeles, Allen, Texas, and Brooklyn, New York. The Swiss Stage is over, Hanwha Life Esports is out, and the Knockout Stage is under way. This Worlds 2026 betting guide covers the schedule, format, seeding, contenders and what to check before placing a wager.

When and where is Worlds 2026?

The tournament moves from the West Coast to Texas before finishing in New York. Here is the full schedule.

StageDatesLocation
Play-InOctober 15-18Riot Games Arena, Los Angeles
Swiss StageOctober 23-26 and 28-31Credit Union of Texas Event Center, Allen
QuarterfinalsNovember 3-6Allen, Texas
SemifinalsNovember 7-8Allen, Texas
Grand FinalNovember 14Barclays Center, Brooklyn

Riot first announced the Texas and New York stages and later confirmed that the Play-In would take place in Los Angeles.

How does the Worlds 2026 format work?

Nineteen teams qualified. The LCK and LPL each received four places after Hanwha Life Esports beat Bilibili Gaming 3-2 in the Mid-Season Invitational final, the LEC, LCS and LCP have three each, and CBLOL has two. The tournament then runs through three stages.

1. Play-In Stage

Four of the lowest-seeded teams from eligible multi-team regions play a double-elimination bracket in Los Angeles. Every series is a best-of-five, but only one team advances to Swiss, which makes it harder than a simple qualifier. Karmine Corp came through by beating MVK.

2. Swiss Stage

Sixteen teams played up to five rounds, advancing at three wins and going out at three losses. Opponents are matched by record, and qualification or elimination games are best-of-three while other matches are best-of-one. For bettors this matters, because a favorite has less room to recover from one bad draft in a best-of-one.

The format produced upsets. Hanwha Life Esports, the MSI champion, lost to Bilibili Gaming in the final round after a run through Top Esports, Gen.G, Invictus Gaming and G2 Esports. LYON beat LØS, and Karmine Corp, in its first Worlds, beat Movistar KOI to reach the quarterfinals.

3. Knockout Stage

The eight Swiss qualifiers enter a single-elimination bracket in which the quarterfinals, semifinals and Grand Final are all best-of-five. Lose one series and the tournament is over. The quarterfinal lineup is:

  • Top Esports vs Invictus Gaming (November 3): Invictus Gaming won 3-1 and reached its first Worlds semifinal since 2019.
  • Gen.G vs LYON (November 4).
  • Dplus KIA vs Bilibili Gaming (November 5).
  • Karmine Corp vs T1 (November 6).

Why does Swiss seeding matter for Worlds outright betting?

Two teams can have similar title chances on paper but very different routes. Riot confirmed that Worlds seeding reflects regional performance, including MSI results.

Higher regional seeds get stronger initial positioning, while lower seeds are more likely to meet strong opposition early. If two teams are close in ability but one is its region's No. 1 seed, its path to three Swiss wins may be easier. Starting 1-0 rather than 0-1 matters because future opponents depend on record, and a favorite that loses early can quickly face another strong team that also started badly. Bettors should reassess outrights once final seeds and the opening draw are known rather than treat pre-draw prices as fixed.

Worlds 2026 title odds

Outright odds move with every Swiss result and bracket draw, so a price quoted before the event is a snapshot only. Hanwha Life Esports' exit shows why: a team that opened as a top contender was out before the quarterfinals. Compare prices only against the current bracket, and do not mistake a long payout on an outsider for value.

Who are the favorites to win Worlds 2026?

Four teams headed the pre-tournament conversation: Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, Bilibili Gaming and T1. After the Swiss Stage, three of them remain.

Gen.G

Gen.G beat Hanwha Life Esports 3-1 in the LCK Grand Final on September 13, and Riot's Global Power Rankings placed it No. 2 worldwide behind only HLE. Domestic form plus an established international roster make it one of the clearest contenders, and it now meets LYON in the quarterfinals.

Hanwha Life Esports

HLE won MSI in July, beating Bilibili Gaming 3-2 in the final after also eliminating LYON, and Riot still ranked it first in mid-September. Yet it was eliminated in the Swiss Stage, which shows how much a hard draw and best-of-one volatility can cost even the strongest résumé.

Bilibili Gaming

BLG lost the MSI final to HLE and the LPL final to Anyone's Legend, but it eliminated HLE in the last Swiss round and plays Dplus KIA in the quarterfinals. Its ceiling against elite Korean opposition keeps it in the title conversation.

T1

T1 are the defending champions after winning Worlds 2025. Their domestic season was less dominant, including a 3-1 playoff defeat to Hanwha, but their experience in long series matters once play reaches best-of-five. They meet Karmine Corp in the quarterfinals.

Which regions are strongest at Worlds 2026?

The LCK entered as the strongest region: HLE won MSI, Gen.G won the LCK championship, and T1 and Dplus KIA are also in the top group. That depth gave bettors several legitimate outright options rather than a single favorite.

LPL: China

China's challengers include Bilibili Gaming and new LPL champion Anyone's Legend, which beat BLG 3-1 in the September 13 final. The LPL received four slots because of BLG's runner-up finish at MSI, and two of its teams, Top Esports and Invictus Gaming, met in the quarterfinals.

LEC: Europe

G2 Esports, the obvious European team to watch after finishing fourth at MSI, went out before the knockouts, while Karmine Corp reached the quarterfinals. Swiss best-of-ones give strong Western teams the chance to produce early upsets.

LCS, LCP and CBLOL

These regions usually carry longer outright prices, so be careful about confusing a large payout with genuine value. Match markets can offer more targeted chances than backing an outsider to win the whole event.

What should you check before betting on Worlds 2026?

The final team list is only the beginning. Run through these points first:

  1. Check regional seeding and the Swiss or knockout draw before committing to an outright.
  2. Look at the Worlds patch, because champion changes can favor particular playstyles.
  3. Remember the format: best-of-one matches carry more upset risk, while best-of-three and best-of-five series give stronger teams time to adapt.
  4. Set a staking limit before the series starts and stick to it.

FAQ

The Grand Final is on November 14 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

A four-team Play-In sends one team to a 16-team Swiss Stage, where teams advance at three wins. The top eight then play a single-elimination Knockout Stage in best-of-five series.

Before the event, the main contenders were Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, Bilibili Gaming and T1. Hanwha was eliminated in the Swiss Stage, so Gen.G, BLG and T1 remain.

A single game leaves less room to recover from a bad draft or mistake, so upsets are more likely than in best-of-three or best-of-five series.

Check regional seeding, the draw, the patch and the format. Reassess prices after each stage rather than treating early odds as fixed.
